MDHHS can help eligible families with some auto related costs. DHHS vehicle repairs/purchase are limited to adults who are working or in “Work related activities” (such as a training program that will lead to employment) and caretakers of minor children. 1 & 2 adult families may be eligible. DHHS will pay up to $900 towards repairs that will make the vehicle “Safe and Roadworthy”; any amount above that limit must be paid by client or other agency first before DHHS payment will be made. DHHS requires 1 estimate from a licensed repair facility and will also cover towing if needed.
